Web Shield's story
Web Shield grew out of the FinTech and challenger bank hype of the 2000s and 2010s. Our founder and the starting team saw that even major industry players did not have the tools to easily manage their risk and remain compliant - so they built them.
2010
Based on the “Investigative Risk Analysis” methodology of our founder, we start developing our first software prototypes. The process culminates in version 1.0 of our underwriting and monitoring solutions.
2011
Following the successful testing of the first release, Web Shield Limited is incorporated in the UK. The first small team starts working from remote offices in several European countries.
2014
The Web Shield Academy is established to foster awareness of new fraud trends and underwriting best practices. At the same time, we open our headquarters in Leipzig, Germany.
2015
From its founding, Web Shield has fostered a constructive relationship with the credit card associations. With Web Shield becoming an official Mastercard Merchant Monitoring Service Provider, principal members of Mastercard can reduce assessment fees if they use our solutions.
2017
Our new underwriting and monitoring solutions build on the same methodology but deliver a more comprehensive and user-focused experience.
2021
Web Shield becomes part of the ZignSec Group, the Swedish digital onboarding and KYC innovator.
Today
As part of the ZignSec Group, Web Shield is maintaining its core expertise in card scheme compliance while exploring new synergies in the RegTech field.
